Leverett Saltonstall was Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The “Oscar” for Best Picture was awarded to How Green Was My Valley.

Gary Cooper and Joan Fontaine won "Oscars" for Best Actor and Best Actress.

Jimmy Dorsey was flying high with five songs that hit number one in 1941: Amapola, My Sister and I, Maria Elena, Green Eyes, and Blue Champagne. Glenn Miller had three number one hits: Song of the Volga Boatman, Chattanooga Choo Choo, and Elmer’s Tune. Other number one hits in 1941 were Daddy by Sammy Kaye, and Piano Concerto in B flat, performed by Freddy Martin.

Baseball’s World Series was won by the New York Yankees (AL) who beat the Brooklyn Dodgers (NL).
