Gary Cooper and Joan Fontaine won "Oscars" for Best Actor and Best Actress.
Jimmy Dorsey was flying high with five songs that hit number one in 1941: Amapola,
My Sister and I, Maria Elena, Green Eyes, and Blue Champagne.
Glenn Miller had three number one hits: Song of the Volga Boatman, Chattanooga Choo Choo, and Elmer’s Tune.
Other number one hits in 1941 were Daddy by Sammy Kaye, and Piano Concerto in B flat, performed by Freddy Martin.
Baseball’s World Series was won by the New York Yankees (AL) who beat the Brooklyn Dodgers (NL).
